Under stricter requirements than for the Côtes du Rhône Villages, twenty of the communes of the appellation are authorized to append their respective village name on the label. With around 5,500 hectares under cultivation, the average yield is approximately 37 hectoliters per hectare.
The minimum required alcoholic strength is fixed at 12.5% for the reds and 12% for the whites and rosés.
Ruby color with purplish reflections. Black fruits, spices, rich and velvety liquorice, Dominated by spices and small red stone fruits but also after agitation liquorice and spices. A pleasant wine, nice balance combining tannins and fat: black fruits and liquorice Structured wine, a lot of length, with cooked red fruits (prune, cherry, spices)
Culinary Recommendation: To be served at 16 C to 18 C. Good match with Red meats and truffle-based dishes
