DOMAINE JEAN FÉRY & FILS is a family-run winery located in the beautiful village of Échevronne between Beaune and Nuits-Saint- Georges. The vineyards span over 14 hectares (34 acres) from the north to the south of Burgundy in famous appellations.
Jean-Louis took over his parents' estate in 1988 and made his childhood dream come true: providing the family estate with the means to develop further by performing the necessary construction work and investments while purchasing new vineyards. He now dedicates all his time to the vineyards. The vineyards are farmed according the principles of organic farming (they have been certified by ECOCERT since 2011), which requires a great deal of dedication and physical labor. Jean-Louis organizes the work of the laborers in every plot of the estate all year long. His unwavering love for Burgundy’s terroirs leads him to constantly acquire new vineyards in order to enrich the estate’s range of growing areas... and to give everyone pleasure...
The estate is now in the hands of Jean-Louis’s sons, Frédéric and Laurent Féry.
DOMAINE JEAN FÉRY & FILS manages vineyards in many different villages in Burgundy, representing a genuine mosaic of climats over a surface of 14 hectares (34 acres).
Character And Personality
Vougeot owes its existence to the toll established in the IXth on the bridge of the Vouge.
Later, the Dukes of Burgundy, who often travelled the route from Dijon to Beaune, established at an equal distance from these two cities, "hostellies" for the ambassadors and for their personal couriers. More modest houses have gradually gathered around these rich homes to offer shelter to less fortunate passersby. In 1110, Hugues, known as "the white" knight of Vergy, offers a vineyard located in Vougeot at Cîteaux Abbey.
The plot of Vougeot 1er Cru is located near the vineyards of Clos de Vougeot, in the village of Vougeot, in good neighbourhood with Chambolle Musigny
This wine has a beautiful purplish red color with on the nose charming aromas of red berries: the cold pre- fermentation maceration allows to extract these fruity notes, the daily pigeage during the vatting of about 20 days generates the frame, the generosity and the tannins silky of this wine. Aging in oak barrels with 35% new light-heated barrels will sublimate the balance of this Vougeot 1er Cru "Les Cras"
Culinary Recommendation: To serve 15 C - 16 C. Vougeot combines with the cuisine of the big days: a piece of roast beef with green asparagus, a filet mignon of veal, game in pepper sauce. On the cheese side, a Cîteaux, tender and soft, will marry well with the flesh of the wine. To be enjoyed between 5 and 10 years, even more.
