Created in 1940 and formerly known as Coche-Bizouard, Domaine Fabien Coche cultivates all the nobility of the great Burgundy wines.
Located in Meursault (21 Côte d'Or), this family estate has 12 hectares of vines spread across Meursault, Pommard, Auxey-Duresses, Monthélie, Saint-Romain, Saint-Aubin and Puligny-Montrachet.
Domaine Fabien Coche uses traditional methods for the production of its wines: working the vines, aging, bottling... each step is done to guarantee exceptional production.
Preserving the nature of the soil is one of the main concerns of your producer who has been working organically for several vintages already. It is therefore quite natural that a request for organic certification was made from the 2020 harvest.
Domaine Fabien Coche is near the emblematic town on the Burgundy wine route, Meursault which has a great wine, tourist and cultural heritage.
South of Beaune, the hillsides of Meursault (21 Côte d’Or) face east. The vines at the top benefit from the rock, those in the middle from more generous soil while those at the bottom reach less dry soil.
Meursault is the emblem of great white wines made from the Chardonnay grape variety.
The subtle blend of limestone, clay and marl, combined with the natural undulation of the hillsides, reveals a wide range of terroirs promising incomparable moments and unforgettable flavours.
2019 Meursault 1er Cru Gouttes D’Or
From 80+ year old vines located in the middle of the appellation in one of its best 1er Cru sites which gained its name from the from the tiny flint stones which glistened in the vineyard hence the name meaning drops of gold.
Notably floral and lifted this wine shows excellent old vine intensity and lively acidity giving great shape and length to the palate.
Finer and more racy than the Charmes this wine wants more time to show its best. A fabulous 1er cru by any standards.
The Goutte d’Or is quite a step up from Fabien Coche’s otherwise excellent villages.
It offers a tighter, more precise framework with intense mid-palate fruit – pure and vivid, and offering immense hedonistic treats. Very lively and forward with plenty of aging potential.
This is a delightful Goutte d’Or, and 80-year-old vines give it a rich foundation.
