It was at the beginning of the 19th century that Château Cos Labory surfaced in the tide of great Bordeaux wines, consecrated 5th Grand Cru Classé of the Médoc by the imperial classification of 1855.
Fifth Classified Growth of the Médoc, Château Cos Labory is astounding . The name of this magnificent Saint-Estèphe property comes from its geographical location "caux" which means hill of pebbles, and from its owner until 1845, François Labory. Belonging to the Audoy family since 1922 , this 18 hectare vineyard is one of the smallest in the Médoc landscape. The classic grape variety of the appellation, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon , at 35 years old on average , is based on a terroir of Günzian gravel on limestone marls, well-draining soil at the origin of rich berries . Between the tradition of sustainable cultivation and technical innovations, ultra-perfected vat opened in 1999, the Audoy family produces refined Saint-Estèphe wines.
Installed on a hillock of gravel quarternaries in the heart of the beautiful Saint-Estèphe appellation, the wines have been part of the regional wine history to become its faithful representatives over the centuries.
Today it is Bernard Audoy who is at the head of this very pretty property and its 18 hectares of vines.
The 2015 vintage comes with nose of baked black cherry fruit, and cigar box, same on the palate, medium body, lovely fruit, rich fruit, very earthy tasting today, soft tannins on the mid palate, and a medium finish.
