Chateau Pontet-Canet Pauillac (Grand Cru Classe) 2014

Lovely deep colour to this, clearly from ripe grapes rather than any extraction process as well. The nose is reticent to start but once it emerges it seriously impresses, rich balsam and dark cherry laden. The palate is very pure and fine, again that lovely rich cherry fruit is here and it is followed by a beautiful clean acidity, it develops further in the mouth and has excellent length.

Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste Lacoste Borie Pauillac 2016

This wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. This is a real quality wine that stands out clearly from simpler qualities and so this Frenchman naturally enchants with the finest balance in all dryness. Taste doesn't necessarily require a lot of sugar. On the palate, the texture of this balanced red wine is wonderfully dense. In the finish, this well storable red wine from the Bordeaux wine-growing region finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of blackberry and mulberry. In the reverberation, mineral notes of the gravel-dominated soils are added.

Chateau Lynch-Bages Pauillac (Grand Cru Classe) 2014

The 2014 Lynch Bages was actually similar to the 2014 Pichon Baron on the nose: tight and surly at first, demanding a lot of coaxing from the glass. It eventually opens up with a mixture of red and black fruit, cedar and tobacco, gaining more harmony and intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite linear and focused at the moment, precise if just needing a little more body and depth to evolve on the straight-laced finish.

Château Clerc Milon Pauillac (Grand Cru Classé) 2004

A still youthful dark purple, the wine has a finely constructed nose which develops fresh, precise aromas of blackcurrant and black cherry mingled with sandalwood and graphite. From a precise, round attack, the palate offers pleasant substance, fine texture and harmonious tannins, lifted by forward and crisp black fruit. The long and delectable finish shows beautiful balance, rounding off a classic Clerc Milon nearing full maturity.

Chateau Cantemerle Haut-Medoc (Grand Cru Classe) 2014

This 2014 Chateau Cantemerle is rich in texture and presents a purplish-blue tinted inky colour. The nose shows right away a wine of a good aromatic purity full of freshness, with a large expression of fleshy, enjoyable and generous black fruit aromas (blackcurrant, smashed black berry, red plum and blueberry). The taste is elegant, finely chiselled on the tannic structure, based on a fine mouth-feel. The whole is charming, suave, almost creamy and above all, has a nice lingering on the palate. This wine is a complete Haut-Medoc, signing a fine vintage.
