Sommelier's Notes

Henri d'Augan is a brand of Crémant de Bordeaux, a sparkling wine from the Bordeaux region of France.

Crémant is made using the same traditional method as Champagne, but it is produced outside the Champagne region.

The special aspect of the Henri d'Augan brand lies in its unique position within the sparkling wine market: it offers Champagne-style quality and production methods at a significantly better value due to its Bordeaux origin.

Unlike most Champagnes which use Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Henri d'Augan uses classic Bordeaux grapes like Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Sémillon.

This provides a unique regional expression (e.g., ripe berry notes in the Rosé) that distinguishes it from other sparkling wines.

The brand offers both Brut Rosé and Brut Blanc varieties.

This "white from black" wine is made exclusively from red grapes, specifically Merlot and Cabernet Franc for this brand.

This results in a rounder, fuller, and more fruit-forward profile.

Did you know?: All Henri d'Augan wines are made using the méthode traditionnelle (traditional method), the exact same complex and time-consuming process used in the Champagne region, which involves a secondary fermentation in the bottle to create the fine bubbles and creamy texture.
Specifications
A slightly deeper golden or straw color than the Blanc, sometimes with very subtle coppery or peach tints.
The aroma profile is richer and more fruit-driven. You can anticipate notes of red berries (strawberry, raspberry) and stone fruits like white peach and apricot. With some aging, subtle hints of brioche or almond can emerge.
The body is fuller and rounder, with a softer acidity compared to the Blanc. It offers a velvety texture and flavors of ripe melon, peach, and red fruits. It has more depth and a longer, richer finish, making it a more robust sparkling wine that can pair well with a wider range of foods.
