Château Pédesclaux is an estate fully committed to organic agriculture, under the leadership of a family dedicated to the pursuit of excellence
Now two hundred years old and under the direction of the Lorenzetti family, Château Pédesclaux continues a spectacular metamorphosis, guided by organic principles.
Since 2009, the people shaping Château Pédesclaux’s regeneration have made a series of crucial decisions in both the vineyard and in the winery.
This comprehensive evolution is visible in the unique architecture of both the Château and the winery, which is 100% gravity-fed: a stunning technological accomplishment carefully designed to allow the fullest possible expression of the Pédesclaux terroir.
At Pédesclaux, the vineyards are farmed organically or, in the case of certain plots, biodynamically. Since the Lorenzetti family acquired the estate in 2009, respect for the land and for the environment have been at the heart of their approach to viticulture. Once they had restructured the vineyards and acquired several high-quality plots, they introduced exacting and sustainable farming methods to improve the land. By acting as responsible, environmentally aware citizens and by exerting ceaseless effort to improve the flavour of the wines, the Lorenzetti family have been able to highlight the unique character of the Pauillac terroir.
Fleur de Pedesclaux is the ‘Super Second’ wine of the fifth growth Chateau Pedeslaux located in the Medoc’s Pauillac appellation.
Ethereal, fresh, appealing to both the nose and the palate, Pédesclaux’s second wine is a flower that unfurls as you approach.
Thanks to its reliance on a high proportion of Merlot, the wine is soft and gentle, with a delicious, silky texture. It has intense, compelling and savoury fruit aromas and, year after year, beautifully calibrated scents of white flowers, violets and small red berries. Exhibiting a more high-spirited elegance yet nonetheless showing remarkable length.
Fleur de Pédesclaux is a delight. In the mouth, it is fresh, subtle, packed with fruit and beautifully smooth tannins, with a long finish. In this more floral expression, the marvellous complexity of our terroir is once again evident, but in a mouth-watering style that is instantly festive.
A great Pauillac is not necessarily austere in its early youth. This is demonstrably true at Pédesclaux, where the style, both charming and multi-layered, is instantly seductive.
The 2016 is blossoming as soon as it is opened. With its richer concentration in merlot, this wine offers a softer, lighter touch with a warm and silky texture. Its fruity aromas are intense, crisp and pleasing on the palate.
