David Duband Vosne-Romanée is a red wine made in the AOC Vosne-Romanée (Burgundy) by David Duband using the Pinot Noir variety.
In 1965 David Dubang's father set up Domaine Pierre Duband in Chevannes, in the heart of Hautes-Côtes de Nuits (Burgundy) with the intention of passing it down to his son. In 1991, David got involved with the project, adding his name and transitioning from selling grapes to making his own wines. There are currently 17 hectares of vineyards, cultivated according to the BIO standards required to hold the Ecocert certificate. Domaine Duband also buys grapes from small winemakers who grow their vines ecologically. All of them part of one of the most beautiful denominations in the Côte de Nuits like Échezeaux grand cru, Chambolle-Musigny, Clos de Vougeot and Charmes-Chambertin.
Throughout his professional career, David has been evolving the way he cultivates his vineyards, trying to express a closer commitment to the terroir. The David Duband Vosne-Romanée red wine comes from vines with an average age of 35 years old and planted in calcareous soil. These strains are cultivated following ecological principles and then harvested by hand when they reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, the David Duband Vosne-Romanée grape is classified and vinified with 80% of whole grapes for 17 days, with between 5 and 7 treads and pump overs. After pressing, the wines are decanted over 2 weeks and put in barrels. 40% goes into new barrels and 60% into barrels that are 1, 2 or 3 years old. After 14 months of aging, the wine rests for 3 months in vats. It is then bottled without filtering.
David Duband Vosne-Romanée is a rich, fine and delicate red wine that reflects the great qualities of a world-renowned terroir.
David Duband's Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbe 2019 expresses a bright ruby red colour to the eye. The nose gives a complex bouquet where red fruits prevail, along with spicy notes of black pepper. The sip is full and structured, balanced by a nice dose of freshness and with an enveloping finish.
