Sommelier's Notes

On the right bank of Bordeaux, where most estates hardly exceed 10 hectares, Château Troplong Mondot is one of the largest estates in Saint-Emilion. Founded in 1700, Château Troplong Mondot, a Premier Grand Cru Classé, proudly gravitates among the finest Saint-Émilion wines.

Poised at an altitude of 110 metres, Château Troplong Mondot’s single-block vineyard spreads across 43 hectares. The vineyard is entirely managed using integrated viticultural practices. The vines are 30 years old on average and rest on clay-limestone soils, a typical feature of the Saint-Emilion appellation.

A beautiful end-of-season, from August 15th to the end of October, instilled confidence regarding the upcoming Château Troplong Mondot vintage. Harvested between the 3rd and 21st of October, the grapes were fully ripe and gave rise to a vintage that lived up to expectations.

Specifications
A beautiful dark ruby colour, this wine seduces with its deep and dense appearance.
Characteristic of the terroir, the nose gives off fragrances of liquorice and fresh ripe fruit, with a delicate hint of spice.
The palate reveals very smooth tannins. The finish is long. A powerful and elegant wine produced in a year already described as a classic Bordeaux vintage and which is in many ways reminiscent of the sublime 1998 and its fine Merlot wines.
