Sommelier's Notes

This wine is the Château de Rouffiac Rouffiac Malbec Cahors 2023, a red wine from the Haut-Pays region of South West France.

It is known for its bold flavour profile and is made primarily from the Malbec grape variety.

It is famously known as a "black wine" due to its distinctive deep, inky purple colour derived from the Malbec grape (locally called Côt or Auxerrois).

The wines of Château de Rouffiac are the result of ancestral know-how combined with modern winemaking methods.

The aim is to offer a range of different styles to discover: wines with a long ageing period and a traditional, ageing profile, fruitier wines that are accessible as soon as they go on sale, and wines vinified in more original ways to attract the curiosity of wine-lovers.

This wine presents a nose of blueberry, black cherry, and violet, complemented by lovely notes of toast, vanilla, and sweet spices.
The tannins are ripe; they give volume to the wine without excess. This, along with the controlled alcohol level of 12.5%, allows one to taste the traditional style of Cahors but in a manner that is easy to approach right now.
