Sommelier's Notes

Rosarubra is a biological and biodynamics winery situated in a small town called Pietranico in the province of Pescara which is roughly 390 meters above sea level. The approximately 30ha represent a unique, pleasant and unspoilt place where biological and biodynamic agricolture blends with its own essence.

The company, biologically certified in 2003, adopts a biodynamic agricultural system improving the soil fertility and food product quality.

You can come across the highest number of “palmenti” dug in the rocks in the territory around Pietranico. These tubs, dating back to the middle ages were real squashing tools used especially for this particular procedure since ancient times.

An oasis of 30 hectares characterised by a territory with a splendid terroir, where the same environment is a nest created by the nature, that protects of it and it protects the biodiversity.

Cultivated lands are joined by forests of oak and in some cases they are surrounded by them. The forest, much more than the vineyards themselves, overlooks and gives character to the landscape.

Indeed the forest is natural and very little has changed. Much has been generously left though for the pleasure of respectful fruition and to the lives of many wild animals.

Intimo is made of Montepulciano and Merlot grapes, hand-picked when over-ripe and grown on 30-year-old vines. It is luscious and crispy, as well as pleasantly round. The natural residual sugar is well integrated with elegant and intense elements that remind of marasca cherry, plums and red fruits, revealing a perfectly balanced tannin. Its essence charms the palate offering intense aromas as well as uncorrupted fruit.

From an overripe harvest of Montepulciano and Merlot grapes comes a wine with a sumptuous fragrance combined with an extraordinary softness. The residual sugar deriving from the partial drying of the bunch on vines over 30 years of age, blends with an elegant concentration of extractive elements that recall cherry, plum and red fruits, revealing a harmoniously balanced tannin. Its essence fascinates the palate offering sensations of aromatic fullness and fruit integrity. An important, rounded, extremely pleasant wine, to be combined with complex dishes or to be sipped in deep meditations.

A great wine, round, extremely pleasant, that excellently pairs elaborated dishes and is totally capturing when enjoyed by itself.
