Sommelier's Notes

Château Devise D'Ardilley was created in 1991.

It has modern winemaking facilities and vine plots which have gradually been grouped together and replanted.

The estate was bought in 2000 by Madeleine and Jacques Philippe, realising a personal dream: born in the Bordeaux area, Madeleine wanted to return to her roots, while Philippe, a qualified engineer having pursued a career with a major services company, wanted to become a winegrower.

They continuously improve the winery. They gathered and replanted the vineyard around the property. They built a modern cellar to guarantee a top quality of the winemaking.

Their dream became a reality and the wine obtained Cru Bourgeois status in the 2003 classification.

The vineyard was planted and replanted all around the winery. It makes it easy to manage the labour at each season. The vineyard is running without any chemical products. A grazing of sheep is used in the vineyard for 10 years. The vineyard has been certified as organic since 2018. The winemaking is made with the most upgrading technical approach.

A beautiful, profoundly coloured wine with ruby tints, the bouquet one of black berried fruit (ripe blackcurrant) with underlying spice and elegant oak. The frank, velvety front of palate opens up to reveal a full and sensual mid-palate, beautifully balanced and superbly chewy, with rich aromatic expression. The equally harmonious finish confirms this wine's ageing potential.

There is nothing better then a good red wine to accompany your meat dishes! Do you prefer an aperitif before your dinner? This wine can accompany your delicacies or any other appetisers to share with family or friends.
