Domaine Laporte is a prestigious and historic winery in the heart of the Sancerre appellation. The property's extensive 21-hectare (52-acre) coverage allows them to cultivate Sauvignon Blanc for their whites and Pinot Noir for their reds and rosés. Their commitment to the land's unique terroir is evident in the way they vinify each wine separately, expressing the distinct characteristics of the soil on which the vines are grown. For instance, "Le Rochoy" showcases the flint terroir, while "La Comtesse" comes from the Kimmeridgian marls of the famous hillside "Les Monts Damnés" in Chavignol.
Since 1986, Domaine Laporte has been under the ownership of the Bourgeois Family, a historic producer in Chavignol. The family's generational expertise and knowledge have been passed down, contributing to the consistent quality of their wines year after year. Their unique approach of handling each plot separately gives rise to an extensive range of wines, setting them apart in the industry.
Thanks to the efforts of a young and passionate team, Domaine Laporte has earned recognition as one of the top producers in the Sancerre appellation. Their dedication to quality and expression of terroir has allowed them to establish a presence not only in France but also in prominent restaurants and wine shops around the world. With a rich history and commitment to excellence, Domaine Laporte continues to be a leading figure in the world of winemaking in Sancerre.
In the 12th century, Etienne, Count of Sancerre gave a slope located in Ménétréol to the religious order of Grandmontains. Aware of the exceptional quality of the soil, they developed vine-growing on this slope. In 1997, Laporte acquired a vineyard of 4.8 situated in the heart of this slope whose ground is composed of clay and is rich in stones.
The wine is harvested and after pneumatic pressing and racking at low temperature, the wine ferments in stainless steel tanks at temperatures ranging from 18°C to 20°C. No malolactique fermentation is used. The wine is then matured on its fine lees until bottling.
The authentic expression of the clay soil which is rich in stones reveals a white Sancerre of extraordinary freshness: the soul of Sauvignon Blanc. Its finesse and roundness make it the ideal accompaniment to your finest dishes.
