Château Pédesclaux is an estate fully committed to organic agriculture, under the leadership of a family dedicated to the pursuit of excellence
Now two hundred years old and under the direction of the Lorenzetti family, Château Pédesclaux continues a spectacular metamorphosis, guided by organic principles.
Since 2009, the people shaping Château Pédesclaux’s regeneration have made a series of crucial decisions in both the vineyard and in the winery.
This comprehensive evolution is visible in the unique architecture of both the Château and the winery, which is 100% gravity-fed: a stunning technological accomplishment carefully designed to allow the fullest possible expression of the Pédesclaux terroir.
At Pédesclaux, the vineyards are farmed organically or, in the case of certain plots, biodynamically. Since the Lorenzetti family acquired the estate in 2009, respect for the land and for the environment have been at the heart of their approach to viticulture. Once they had restructured the vineyards and acquired several high-quality plots, they introduced exacting and sustainable farming methods to improve the land. By acting as responsible, environmentally aware citizens and by exerting ceaseless effort to improve the flavour of the wines, the Lorenzetti family have been able to highlight the unique character of the Pauillac terroir.
Like all the greatest wines of the appellation, Château Pédesclaux has the complexity that reflects the terroir it springs from. On this mosaic of soils, the clays convey power while the gravels express pure elegance. Pédesclaux embodies the depth that is the quintessence of Pauillac, balanced by a unique sensuality.
With each vintage, the painstaking work on these excellent plots pays off, while the revolutionary equipment in the winery enables the wine to develop its own unique personality.
Across the years, a narrative arc has become visible: a scent special to this terroir that is a blend of blackcurrant, violet and cigar box. Sometimes denser and more tropical, at other times more ethereal, always maintaining the balance between powerful aromas and the silky delicacy of the tannins,
Château Pédesclaux also boasts a formidable cellaring potential – another key feature of the great Pauillac terroirs.
A great Pauillac is not necessarily austere in its early youth. This is demonstrably true at Pédesclaux, where the style, both charming and multi-layered, is instantly seductive.

"Archetypical of a great Pauillac, full-bodied and vigorous with a tight but very silky tannic structure and a fresh length."
