AIA Vecchia Vermentino Maremma IGT 2012

- +

WINE TYPE: White

WINE CLASSIFICATION: Italian IGT

BOTTLE SIZE: 750 ml

Sommelier's Notes

In the glass, the wine is straw yellow with pale green hues. The bouquet is fresh with zesty aromas of freshly cut grass, grapefruit and hints of salt air. On the palate, the wine has a creamy and round mouthfeel with bright acidity accompanied by hints of limestone and a slight earthiness. The finish is lengthy, dry and refreshing.

Winery: Aia Vecchia

Aia Vecchia is the name of an old building (The corporate centre today) situated in the Tuscan County between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci and next to the Tyrrhenian coast. This is an area where the particularly favourable microclimate and ideally suited soils make possible the production of very high-quality wines. The particular position gives the vines very much light, both direct sunlight and sunlight reflected by the sea. This, in general, allows an early harvest.

General Aging:

Culinary Recommendation: To serve at 8 - 10 C. Good match with fresh and simple seafood dishes, pesto, grilled fennel and light appetizers.

Did you know?: Despite the complexity on the nose of this wine, I found it to be as easy-drinking as they come. I would serve it with a cheese plate, or alongside seared scallops which would bring out the wine’s almost-Chardonnay-like butteriness.
