Château Calon-Ségur has one of the most beautiful historical among the Bordeaux Castles. He was indeed the favorite of the Marquis de Ségur who, although he owned small other rather pleasant estates like Mouton, Lafite and Latour (just that), preferred Calon. Hence the very famous phrase "I make my wine in Lafite and Latour, but my heart is in Calon.
Despite very heterogeneous weather and maturation conditions for the Bordeaux vineyards, the 2006 vintage is very successful in Medoc. This Calon evolves in a very... Saint-Estèphe style. Powerful, concentrated and dry, it offers notes and aromas of earth, undergrowth, spices and very ripe black fruits. A serious wine that can be tasted today after a few hours of opening or within a decade or two, depending on your tastes.
